Investor Overview

At Dionex we are dedicated to helping scientists automate and apply instrument and chemistry solutions to improve laboratory productivity and performance. From trace-level impurities and contaminant analysis in water, to bioanalytical applications involved in disease discovery, from solutions for drug development and manufacturing to the compositional analysis of natural or synthetic chemical products, innovative solutions from Dionex are at the heart of everything we do.

Founded in 1975, Dionex achieved record sales for the year reporting $385 million in sales, growing 2% (5% organic) for the fiscal year, a tremendous achievement given the economical challenges the industry is facing. Our earnings per share also set a record at $3.04 growing 10%. Not only did we achieve record operating results, we also continued to maintain a very healthy balance sheet. We experienced growth in our major product lines of Ion Chromatography (IC), High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC), and sample preparation. Our focus on innovation and new product introductions led to the launch of several key new products this year.

For IC, we introduced our next generation of mid-range IC products: the ICS-1100, ICS-1600, and ICS-2100. These systems fully integrate the capabilities of our RFIC™ technology, bringing this powerful technology to virtually the entire range of IC products. We also introduced our new autosampler for use with our entry-level and midrange products providing higher performance for our customers. IC is now critically important in determining drinking water quality, environmental contaminants in wastewater, and on-line monitoring of raw materials and production processes in a variety of manufacturing facilities. Today, Dionex is the market leader in the $325 million IC market.

For HPLC, we provide a broad range of products to the $2 billion plus HPLC market. We displayed our Rapid Separation LC (RSLC) system for the first time at Pittcon 2009 and introduced the only dual-gradient UHPLC system on the market today. The dual RSLC system combines the speed, resolution and flexibility of two RSLC systems into one system thus providing our customers with the highest combination of speed and flexibility available. We also introduced a number of new consumables for fast, high-resolution HPLC separations. Innovative HPLC capabilities developed by Dionex for analyzing carbohydrates have proven valuable in the development of therapeutic agents for heart disease, AIDS, arthritis, and other medical conditions.

For on-line process technologies, we introduced our new Integral™ on-line IC/LC solution. This on-line process analytical platform allows our customers to choose between IC or HPLC capabilities to improve process throughput and efficiency.

Completing our list of new product introductions is the launch of the latest version of our Chromeleon® Chromatography Data System software, Chromeleon 7.0. Our Chromeleon 7.0 software provides our customers with the fastest and easiest path from sample to results. The software accomplishes this by combining a new graphical user interface with innovative eWorkflow™ tools and new peak detection and integration capabilities.

Based in Sunnyvale, California, Dionex employs more than 1,500 people worldwide. Dionex shares trade on NASDAQ under the symbol DNEX.
